Our Ponce Society of Young Professionals is holding their 2nd annual Dress Shirt and Tie Drive to benefit the Coral Gables Senior High School Football Team at La Taberna Giralda on Thursday, August 8th, from 6-8 PM.
You are invited to participate—please bring any new or new-ish shirts and ties (all sizes) to the event. Cash donations are also accepted.
The event is free, sponsored by Dade Medical College.
Coral Gables La Salle Dry Cleaners has kindly donated their services to dry clean all donated items.
The Dress Shirt and Tie Drive was started in 2012 to help Coral Gables Senior High School football players participate in the tradition of dressing up on Game Days. The response was huge and there were a couple hundred shirts and ties donated.
The shirts and ties were presented to the players at a pizza party and it was well received and much appreciated and they sent the Ponce Society this photo.
Stay to see La Taberna Giralda’s FLAMENCO SHOW at 8:00 PM

We are pleased to welcome John O’Rourke, owner of Montica Jewelry (75 Miracle Mile, Coral Gables), to our Board of Directors.
An active, passionate, and influential voice within the jewelry industry, he is frequently sought after for interviews by noteworthy publications. John sits on the Board of Directors of the Independent Jewelers Organization (IJO), the world’s largest independent jewelry buying group in the United States, and is affiliated with the nationally recognized firm Wexler Insurance Agency.
John has also served as Chairman for the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce, as Vice President for the Coral Gables Business Improvement District, and on numerous boards over the years including the City of Coral Gables Economic Development, Make-A-Wish of South Florida, and CHARLEE Homes for Children.
After a successful run as a private banker, John joined his wife at Montica Jewelry in 1995. He immediately delved into unknown territory by pursuing a degree from the Gemological Institute of America. John is now considered a diamond expert in his own right and a leader in the industry.
Over the years, John and and his wife Marichi have focused their attention on enhancing the jewelry buying experience. Between John’s remarkable breadth of knowledge and Marichi’s extensive background, the pair have managed to turn Montica Jewelry into one of the premier jewelry stores in South Florida.

We are pleased to announce the creation of the ONE CAMERA ONE WORLD Charitable Fund. One of the many fiscal sponsor funds at the CGCF, One Camera One World is able to make an immediate difference in the lives of children while they implement their long term goal of creating their own nonprofit.
One Camera One World is dedicated to strengthening family identities and improving self-esteem in children living in poverty through the medium of photography. Its goal is to serve the impoverished areas around the world, and domestically, with their initial focus in Haiti.
By supplying school children with their first cameras and picture albums, One Camera One World will encourage them to share how they see the world. They will document their day-to-day life, getting a sense of who they are and what they can become.
Working in conjunction with other nonprofit organizations, One Camera One World will begin by distributing digital cameras at an elementary school outside Port-au-Prince, Haiti. They will teach the students basics in photography, and give them guidelines as to which subjects to shoot.
When the photographs from these cameras are edited, each student will receive their own picture album. After the children have a chance to share these albums with their families, One Camera One World team members will go back to the school and help them process what they have learned. Topics of discussion will include: Their pride in family and community, their growth as an artist, and their unique vision.
One Camera One World will show these children that they have their own special voice which no one can ever take away. This voice, expressed through visual arts, will often be the first-ever images of their family and life. These images will give the children confidence, empowerment and hope, and open up educational opportunities for their future.
The One Camera One World Charitable Fund was established by Randi Sidman-Moore Photography. To make a donation to this Fund, please send a check payable to “Coral Gables Community Foundation” (please put “One Camera One World” in the memo line) at our mailing address below. Or, to make a donation by credit card, please call our offices at 305/446.9670.
