2013 MAD HATTER
Our fourth annual MAD HATTER was held on May 22nd, 2013, at Tarpon Bend Coral Gables, generously hosted by owner Wayne Eldred. Approximately 50 friends attended to enjoy wine, sodas, and hors d’oeuvres provided by Tarpon Bend.
Prizes (also donated by Tarpon Bend) were awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place BEST HAT. The winners were: First place for the full cowboy outfit worn by Event Planner Jose Andres Mustelier of ASE Events. Second prize for the fluffy pimp hat went to Bizian Washington, and third prize to the elegant Miss Mary Snow.

2012 MAD HATTER
Our third MAD HATTER was held on June 7th, 2012 at CRAVE, in the Village of Merrick Park (now “Merrick Shops”), Coral Gables.
We partnered with CRAVE CARES to benefit our GablesHomePage.com initiative for the month of June and a portion of the proceeds from the Crave Cares menu items were donated to the Foundation.
2011 MAD HATTER
Our second MAD HATTER was held on March 22, 2011 at MORTON’S The Steakhouse, 2333 Ponce de Leon Boulevard, Coral Gables.
We used photos of many the happy faces from the previous year for our invitation postcards.
Morton’s hosted us on their patio and the weather was beautiful. Winner of the BEST HAT was Richard DeWitt, Esq. of DeWitt Law Firm, P.A. (pictured below with Chair Bill Bonn).
Some Auction Items were sold, and a large group stayed to enjoy Morton’s fine cuisine for dinner.
2010 MAD HATTER
Our first MAD HATTER was held on March 25, 2010 at Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bar, 2525 Ponce de Leon Boulevard, Coral Gables.
Fleming’s generously hosted us on their beautiful side courtyard patio, and offered a discount on dinner that was well received. Wine and passed hors d’oeuvres were enjoyed by all.
Chair Jerry Santeiro and Membership Committee Chair Irela Bagué spoke on behalf of the Foundation, and (then) Mayor Don Slesnick presented Fleming’s manager Rocco Angelillo with and apron and a gift from the City.
We did not choose a ‘best’ hat, instead prizes were given Raffle style. Eligibility for the Raffle (which was free) was based on if attendees wore a hat, or if they joined, renewed, or brought a friend.
David Evensky (CGCF Board Member) won a $50 gift certificate to Miracle Mile Shops donated by the B.I.D. (ShopCoralGables), and GablesHomePage.com Editor Matt Bokor won a $185 spa package from Portfolio Salon.
Approximately 40 Friends of the Foundation attended.
