General Information for Grant Seekers
(Please note that these guidelines are for the Foundation’s unrestricted grants and do not necessarily pertain to specific funds.)
Coral Gables Community Foundation’s areas of interests include education, arts and culture, health services, historical preservation, and social services (for elderly, youth and disabled).Grantees should be 501 (c) 3 non-profit organizations. The Foundation will not typically consider requests to influence legislation or promote candidates; for religious or sectarian purposes; for individuals (except for education); or tickets for charitable functions. Grants are reviewed on a quarterly basis, although the board of directors has the right to postpone grant disbursals for the purpose of building the Foundation’s endowment base. Please do not purchase any expensive presentation materials for your grant request, as the Foundation only requests a single-page letter describing the grantee’s need. Grant recipients will be notified as soon as the board of directors approves the request.
Please keep in mind that timeliness is important. Sending in requests several months before the funding is needed gives an applicant a better advantage.
Those wishing to apply for funding should simply write a letter stating the specific need for the funding and attaching a copy of the §501(c)(3) status.
