ABOUT MOTIVATED YOUTH
Motivated Youth encourages a sense of community responsibility and altruistic awareness by providing all necessary resources, and presenting them in fun, educational events. The program offers an understanding of the purpose of non-profit organizations in the community. Students will be grouped with peers from different schools, and collaborate with an assigned non-profit organization. The groups create a presentation to effectively advocate the charity’s mission. Each participant is then given “funny money” to distribute to the organizations they feel deserve it most based on information from the presentations. At the end, the amount of “funny money” is exchanged for real money, which is then presented to each respective charity. Throughout the years, over $100,000 has been donated to local organizations, such as the Make-A-Wish Foundation of South Florida, the Miami Children’s Hospital Foundation, the Thomas Amour Youth Ballet and the Shake-a-Leg Foundation. Motivated Youth is a dual-foundation, donor-advised partnership between Evensky & Katz Wealth Management and the Coral Gables Community Foundation.
